Getting Crafty with Grandma Barbara

While I was at work on Monday, my mom brought the girls out to the house after school...and the fun began!!

They made Easter Bags for all their cousins, aunts & uncles, and grandparents. They started with brown lunch bags, folded down the top a few times, painted pictures or put stickers on, wrote the person's name on them, added "grass", and then the treats!!

They had a wonderful time!! My girls love to "make and decorate"!! Thanks Grandma Barbara for the activity and memories :)

REMODELING....

Well, we were feeling ambitious ( I guess) :) We took the "original" kitchen cabinets out of the room and that's how it all started!

Let me remind you that the house is "OLD" and still has concrete or mortar walls. We decided to take the walls down to the 2X4s and sheet rock.

My hubby did the sheet rocking while I assisted when needed. Once the walls were up, I began texturing all 4!! I don't know what I was thinking; but I do know, the 2nd day of doing this task, what my body was thinking :) Finally with the walls textured, I began painting the walls, then the trim, then hanging the trim, then touching up the walls...and so on :)

I can't forget to mention my 2 wonderful helpers that painted with me one day!! I couldn't have finished without them :)

Oh I forgot to mentions; while I was painting, Ryan decided to tear out the old tile that was "popping" off his bathroom floor. There really was no tearing to it, he pretty much just picked up the tiles :)

So we actually have 2 "projects" going at the same time. So Ryan proceeds to tile for his first time and 3 days later the tile is ready to be sealed!!(May I say it turned out beautiful!!)

Oh I forgot to mention the day before we sealed the floor, I had this wonderful idea ( Yeah Right LOL ) to texture the walls AND CEILING in his bathroom and just give it an entire face lift!! So that is what I did!!

Let's just say, it was well worth it!! The bathroom is completely finished and looks marvelous!! Not too shabby for 2 "farm hands"!!

And the "original kitchen room", we are in the process of laying the wood floor and then it will be completed!! I refer to it as the "original kitchen room" because we still have no idea what we are going to do with the space, it's just there!! So we are still throwing around ideas. The one we are leaning towards, is a game table and maybe air hockey for the girls!! We don't know :)

Spring Break....Day 5

Friday, we headed to Norman (Sooner Country) and went to the "Dinosaur Museum" as we called it. It is on the campus grounds. They had a good number of visitors too. Since it was Spring Break they had a few extras for the kids to do. They had face painting, papers with a background and then you stamped dinosaurs on it, and they had a gymboree time.

The dinosaur exhibits were fantastic! They had all the facts and where the bones were found. I was amazed at how many were found in OK, NE, and KS. My girls thought it was AWESOME that maybe dinosaurs use to live on our farm!! Who knows :)

We also went through the Native American section. They had arrow heads, head dresses, bowls, clothes...anything and everything from their lives. My girls think that I should know all the facts, since I have told them that I have Indian in my blood line..(it made me laugh when they would look at me and say "is that really how they did it") Ha Ha...

I couldn't help myself, I had to take a picture of my girls acting as if a huge prehistoric kind of elephant was about to step on them...what can I say, it was funny!!

Spring Break ....Day 4

Well, we talked daddy into taking 2 days off this week, and we headed to OKC. It seemed like a good idea, to go to the zoo today. Let's see it's Spring Break for every school in OK...and....it is beautiful out!!! What does that mean...it means people and more people and people!!!! The zoo was sssooooo crowded!! I am not exaggerating at all!! I think everyone had the same plan for Spring Break...

Now that I got that off my chest, we did have a great time!! The girls were tired of walking (so was Ryan) and it seemed there were a lot of exhibits closed for one reason or another; but it was a good time!!

My favorites are the giraffes!! I love them and really can't tell you why! I just like to watch them, they are so "oddly put together" (to me) with their long necks, long legs....who knows maybe I am just jealous...I will never know what it feels like to be tall :) Anyway, there were 3 adults and a kid that was born 4 days after Abbey's birthday. He was so cute!!

I think the girls and Ryan's favorites were the grizzly bears. One of them kept going to a tree and itching his back. The other went for a swim; and kept finding crackers in the water. He would dive down and get them, or scoop them up with his paw and eat them. We watched them for quite awhile.

All in all, we had a pretty good time, as a family!! Our girls are growing up so fast...

Spring Break....Day 3

On Wednesday we went to Enid with Grandma Barbara and spent the day at Leonardos. Both of my girls have a love for Science!! They must have gotten it from their daddy, because I know I never enjoyed it! LOL! Anyway, we did it all and then some. They had a wonderful time!

Going "EXPLORING"

While exploring at our ranch this evening, we discovered dams...not 1 or 2 or 3, there were 4!! I have never really looked at these before, but I am amazed!! Amazed at how much work goes into a dam, and how much time. We found a few dens where the beavers live, but thankful none came out (I am not sure, but I don't think they are very nice). We later came upon the tree in the picture. I honestly had no idea that beavers took down this size of a tree, I guess I thought they just used trees that had fallen or small ones..Boy, I learned a lot!!! And I am for sure taking my camera along next time, all I had was my camera phone.

Spring Break ...Day 2

This Spring Break I told myself...."We are going to do at least 1 activity a day from the norm" So excluding yesterday, because I had to work, we started today.

Day 2....Make Oobleck

In the book "Bartholomew and the Oobleck" by Dr. Seuss; there is a spell cast to create an extremely sticky green substance also known as "goop" coming from the sky. This "goop" known as oobleck, is cheap and easy to make and easy to clean up. Do not put the oobleck down the sink it will clog your pipes, throw it in the trash when you are finished with it. Also you can store it in a plastic baggy in the refrigerator to use another time!!

Things You'll Need:
1/4 cup of white glue
1/4 cup of water
1/4 cup of liquid starch

1. mix the water and glue first
2. add 2 drops of food coloring (goop is green, but we used other colors)
3. add the liquid starch
My kids used their hands to mix the starch and you can feel it start to form.

Lots of easy entertainment!!!
